The essentials

Who this policy covers

Sleep Sounds and Baby Monitor is developed by Jack Richmond for adults who choose to play sleep sounds or share live room audio with trusted caregivers. This policy describes the current app and its privacy-policy website. It does not replace the privacy policies of Apple, Tailscale, your network provider or Cloudflare.

Room audio and cry detection

White and pink noise are generated locally. If you start the microphone role and grant microphone permission, the app captures live room audio and sends it over an encrypted, authenticated connection to the caregivers you pair. Audio uses temporary memory buffers for processing and playback. The app does not create room-audio recordings, and the developer does not receive room audio.

If you enable cry detection, Apple's on-device Sound Analysis framework evaluates the room stream. Classification happens locally. A possible-cry event, detector status and selected sensitivity may be sent to connected caregivers. The app does not train a child-specific model or upload audio for model training. Detection can be wrong or miss sounds; it does not assess a child's health.

Camera permission is used only while scanning a pairing QR code. You can also choose a pairing image from your photo library. The app does not upload pairing-camera images to a developer server.

Settings and paired caregivers

Sound preferences, listening levels and detection settings are stored on the device. Pairing keys and trusted-room credentials are stored in the device's Keychain. A caregiver label, sound settings, connection/audio health, battery information and caregiver acknowledgments can be exchanged with authenticated connected devices to support monitoring and remote controls.

Connection links and QR codes contain private pairing credentials. Anyone who has a valid credential and can reach your room device may be able to listen or change room settings. Share them only with people you trust.

Subscriptions and Apple

Apple processes subscription purchases, billing, cancellations and refunds. The app checks Apple's signed transaction and renewal information to determine whether your Apple Account has current access. This can include a product identifier, transaction identifier, subscription state and access expiration. These checks occur on your device; no developer payment server or separate app account is used.

The same Media & Purchases Apple Account can restore access on supported devices. An iCloud sign-in alone does not share purchases or create another trial. The app does not receive your payment-card details and does not maintain a separate cloud database of trial start dates. Apple's own processing is explained in Apple's privacy information.

TestFlight feedback and diagnostics

During beta testing, Apple may collect testing/device information, crash diagnostics and feedback under its own terms and make them available to the developer. You choose whether to submit beta feedback and screenshots. Review screenshots before sending them: they can reveal room names or pairing credentials. The app does not attach room-audio recordings to feedback.

Networks, notifications and sharing

Live monitoring requires a reachable trusted network or a connection such as Tailscale. Network providers and Tailscale may process connection metadata under their own policies. Room audio stays between the paired devices; it is not relayed through this website. See Tailscale's privacy policy if you use that service.

Direct cry notifications are created on a listening device after an event arrives over the live connection. Notification content can appear on your Lock Screen depending on your settings. iOS may issue a push-notification device token; this build does not send it to a developer alert server.

Independent push alerts are not active in version 1.5. The prepared optional alert service has not been deployed or configured for this app. If that service is activated in a future version, the policy will be updated before its use to explain device tokens, caregiver identifiers, cry/health event metadata and retention. Room-audio recordings would not be part of that service.

We do not sell room audio or personal information, include advertising SDKs, or use data for cross-app advertising. A caregiver who receives audio or screenshots controls their own device and any separate tools they use; this app cannot control what they do outside it.

Your choices and retention

Live audio is held only in temporary processing/playback buffers. Preferences remain locally until changed or removed. Keychain credentials can persist independently of app deletion, so revoke old pairing credentials when needed. Apple controls retention of its transaction and billing records. We do not maintain a developer database of your room recordings or purchase history.

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to handle your request. Please do not send room recordings, pairing keys, payment details or sensitive information about your child. Support correspondence may be retained as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable obligations. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct or request deletion of information we actually hold.

When you visit this website

This static website is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. It does not use our own analytics scripts, advertising, account sign-ins or contact forms. Cloudflare may process your IP address, browser/device information and request/security metadata to deliver and protect the site. Its processing and retention are governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy and the services it provides. Visiting this page does not send it room audio or app pairing credentials.

Children and security

The app is operated by adults and does not ask children to create accounts or submit information. A room stream may contain a child's voice, so adults should use monitoring only with appropriate consent and share access carefully. The app uses encrypted connections and device security features, but no app or network can guarantee complete security, uninterrupted audio or notification delivery. It is a listening aid, not a medical device or a replacement for in-person supervision.

Policy changes

Changes will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes to data handling will be described before the affected feature is used. The app's in-app privacy information remains available with its subscription information.
